WHEN NATURE STRIKES

Steps to take after a damaging storm hits your house.

Whether your home sustained wind damage, hail damage, damage from falling trees, or multiple of these, there are a few steps that should be taken after such an event. Here is our recommendation.

  • 1. Evaluate the safety of the situation. Do not attempt to inspect for damage while the storm is still active. Check for downed powerlines, unstable trees or branches, and compromised structural capabilities.

  • 2. Address any bad leaks that need immediate attention. The roof is the most vulnerable part of your house, and most likely damaged. A tarp and some cap nails are a quick, temporary fix for most leaks. If you call us and we will come out as soon as possible, to perform this service for you.

  • 3. Call a contractor. We think it is to your best interest to call a professional contractor, before getting your insurance adjuster to come out. We can perform a thorough inspection and deal directly with your adjuster, saving you the headaches. Normally, if we perform an inspection, we can also find and list potential complications, that most likely would not be included in your initial settlement by the adjuster.

  • 4. Call your insurance adjuster. On almost all insurance claims, an adjuster is required to come out and physically inspect the damage. As stated above, often-times we can reach out to them, or at least continue communications after your initial phone call.

  • 5. Do your research. Some contractors will install the cheapest shingles or siding available, and still take your entire settlement. Due to high demand after a storm you will get lots of “storm chasers” knocking on your door trying to get your business. Though there are lots of honest contractors out there, unfortunately, there are also plenty who simply want to get your insurance settlement and leave town. Sometimes they bring in crews from out of state to perform the work, and can’t be reached after the project. Make sure you are dealing with a local, reputable company, who back up there work with continued service.

At NüPro Exterior Designs, we are dedicated to providing long-term roofing solutions that embody our commitment to quality and meticulous craftsmanship. Our approach to installing shingle roofs is comprehensive, ensuring each phase of the process meets our high standards, from initial inspection to the final cleanup. Detailed Inspections for Unmatched Quality Our process begins and ends with a thorough inspection. Before installation, we carefully assess your roof to determine the most effective application for your specific needs. After completion, we conduct a quality control inspection to ensure every aspect of the installation meets NüPro’s rigorous standards. Protecting Your Property Understanding the importance of your home’s surroundings, we take great care to protect your property. Prior to starting the installation, our team covers landscaping, decks, patios, and driveways with tarps to safeguard them from damage. Innovative Debris Management During the removal of old roofing materials, we employ an Equipter shingle buggy. This cutting-edge tool minimizes ground debris, keeping your property clean and reducing cleanup time. Thorough Preparation and Installation Removing all layers of existing roofing is crucial for several reasons. It allows us to inspect the condition of the current decking, ensures our fasteners secure directly to a solid foundation, prevents disintegration of old shingles that could damage the new installation, and avoids a lumpy appearance in the new roof. We replace any compromised decking to provide a flawless base for your new shingles. Enhancing Durability and Aesthetics To ensure a watertight roof, we apply Ice and Water Barrier along eaves, valleys, and low-pitch slopes. This self-healing underlayment seals around fasteners, offering superior leak protection. A synthetic underlayment covers the remainder of the roof, followed by the installation of new aluminum drip edges around all perimeters. Attention to Detail Adhering to the manufacturer's guidelines, we meticulously install new shingles, chimney flashings, and other necessary flashings. Ridge vents and hip and ridge caps are added for optimal ventilation and aesthetic completion. Final Touches and Cleanup After installation, we paint any exposed pipes and vents to match the new shingle color, enhancing the roof’s visual appeal. Our final step involves a meticulous cleanup process, including a comprehensive sweep with a magnet to remove any nails and debris. Should our work leave any marks on your yard, we promptly repair these areas, leaving your property in impeccable condition. At NüPro Exterior Designs, every shingle roof installation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to quality and customer satisfaction, ensuring that your roof is not only built to last but also beautifully integrates with your home’s overall aesthetic. If you’re in need of a new shingle roof, contact us today to learn more about how we can provide you with a solution that lasts.
